Having among other things been the head of the programme of a local radio station in Baden-Württemberg and editor-in-chief of a print press service located in Frankfurt (which was working out technically complete newspaper pages designed by editors for clients in the entire Federal territory), I was - after the political change in Germany - working as a journalist in charge of a project setting up the info channel MDR in Leipzig (a channel without commercials). A couple of years later I was working freelance for the news agency dpa in Frankfurt am Main.
Now I (aged 51) am working as a freelance journalist (main emphasis: news department)

I did learn my job starting from the bottom, (2 years practical training at a daily newspaper including a photo training course), among other things I participated in an in-service training seminar held by former presenter of the "Tagesthemen" Hanns-Joachim Friedrichs (an anchor man with regard to communication) and in an off set printing training course. As a descendant of printing works in Giessen with an affiliated publishing house I have contacts and comprehensive knowledge in printing, setting, bookbinding and publishing trade. Apart from more than 25 years of professional experience, speech training and cmpleted studies (politics and history) I have leadership qualities, gained among other things as a managing director of a printery.

Dear interested person,
having worked for more than 25 years as a journalist (WDR television, HR radio station) I got to know an entirely new production process even before the official presentation: books-on-demand titles in co-operation with libri.
During the presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair (autumn 1999) the co-operation between libri / books-on-demand and my publishing house was already being tested - to be on the safe side the test was carried out first of all with a title hat had flown from my pen.
The result was so convincing that within a couple of months the first test volume was followed by 3 other newly published books from my publishing house as bod-titles. In this context I would like to draw your attention to the entirely new conditions in the sector of publication of scientific books.

For publications in the scientific sector publishing houses are frequently dependent on substantial subsidies covering printing cost.
For bod-titles in my publishing house the subsidy for printing is limited e. g. to 280,- Euro (based on 150 pages, size DIN A 5, PC created, made-up printing pattern, paperback, coloured cover
Scientific publications frequently involve considerable cost for author copies
For bod-titles in my publishing house author copies are simply offered at checkable cost price (in the above mentioned case approx. 5,- Euro (copy)
For the assigment of ISBN, advertising, review copies and their dispatch publishing houses every now and then charge substantial fees.
For bod-titles in my publishing house presence in the Internet, dispatch of 10 review copies (acc. to author list) ISBN etc. is included already in the subsidy for printing.
With regard to publication of scientific books quite frequently the number of copies sold from which on the author receives fees is quite high and checking the conditions ist fairly difficult for the author.
With bod-titles in my publishing house authors/editors receive fees from the first copy sold, the number of volumes produced as well as the use may be exactly proved and controlled.
